Another recent addition to the AKA team is Manddy Wyckens; a Director, Designer and Art Director, specialising in both background painting and character design. Manddy's bold compositions and contrast create vibrant, atmospheric backgrounds. Her characters are as minimal as her landscapes, drawn in an elegant line or a sharp edge, capturing attitude and personality in a few graceful strokes. Manddy is both a Gobelins and Calarts graduate. She's been working a myriad of projects including feature film, tv shows and commercials - and is now well underway with some stunning work at Studio AKA.
STUDIO AKA is delighted to be representing Manddy worldwide as a director.
For SHERLOCK GNOMES, Studio AKA were approached by Paramount Pictures and MGM to create a whopping 8-minute animated Credit sequence for the film. The gnome-filled End Credits were designed and co-directed by Eamonn O’Neill and Kristian Andrews; who tasked a team of animators with adding a little gnome and a tiny bit of drama to every name of the crew, in itself gnome mean feat (sorry).
Welcome to BAFTA-nominated filmmaker Marcus Armitage. His hand-drawn work employs bold colour and expressive motion, creating captivating visuals and thought-provoking stories. The diversity of his approaches can be seen in his commissioned work such as his animated sequences for the documentary LIMBO which premiered at SUNDANCE and in his award-winning, and BAFTA nominated short film MY DAD, which explores inherited racism using a tactile approach of oil pastels and newspaper clippings. His latest film THAT YORKSHIRE SOUND draws upon his roots with a colourful and frenetic union of audio and image that documents a day of life in Yorkshire.
STUDIO AKA is delighted to be representing Markus worldwide as a director.
The Amazing World of Gumball teamed up with STUDIO AKA to animate an ever-so-awkward 2-minute flashback scene for an episode of the season called THE CRINGE. Directed by AKA's Kristian Andrews, it's all made with cardboard, cotton wool, toilet roll, gaffer tape and LOVE. Enjoy!

The unexpected change in direction forced by technical difficulties or spontaneous audience participation is always fun. Let’s be honest though, the most fun thing is just ‘showing off’ isn’t it?
